FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE UNITY A CAPELLA GOSPEL ENSEMBLE PERFORMS EASTER SUNDAY AT FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM St. Petersburg, FL (March 12, 2008) Florida International Museum (FIM) is pleased to announce that the Unity A Capella Gospel Ensemble will perform in concert Easter Sunday to celebrate Vatican Splendors from Saint Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museums and Swiss Guard . “Unity A Capella, with their beautiful harmonies and energy, brings a special grace to an already unique exhibit,” said Kathy Oathout, executive director for Florida International Museum . “We are excited to have them with us on the holiest day of the Christian calendar.” The acclaimed ensemble will perform from 12 noon to 2:00 pm in the museum lobby. Unity A Capella Gospel Ensemble was formed in 1990 in St. Petersburg . In 2000, they were named Best New Artist by the National Academy of Christian A Capella Music Awards, and in 2002 were nominated for Best Ensemble. The group has been active in the community, supporting local NAACP events, Neighborhood Crime Watch Meetings, various Black History programs, Beacon House and the Resurrection House. All proceeds from the Easter performance benefit Mercy Keepers, Inc., which is affiliated with the 20 th Street Church of Christ in St. Petersburg . Vatican Splendors from Saint Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museums and Swiss Guard presents unique objects illustrating the Vatican 's impact on history and culture through 2,000 years. The timing of the exhibition commemorates the 500th anniversary of Saint Peter's Basilica, the founding of the Vatican Museums; Michelangelo's painting of the Sistine Chapel ceiling and the establishment of the Papal Swiss Guard. The exhibit will be display at FIM through May 11, 2008. FIM hours for Vatican Splendors are Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. ; Sunday 12 noon – 6 p.m.; last admission at 5 p.m. Tickets to this exhibition are subject to availability based on timed-entry admissions.
