Dear Area Educators,

The Florida International Museum (FIM) is proud to have been selected to appear on your school district's approved field trip list for an exciting exhibit. I have attached the details for your review.

St. Petersburg is privileged to host the largest Vatican exhibition ever to visit North America, Vatican Splendors from Saint Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museums and Swiss Guard. This exhibit will make its first of three exclusive stops at the Florida International Museum from February 9, 2008 until May 11, 2008 .

Most of these objects are not displayed publicly even at the Vatican and are presented in dramatic settings and recreated environments such as the Tomb of St. Peter, The Sistine Chapel , as well as the Renaissance Basilica of Saint Peter . With its vast collection of nearly two hundred objects dating from the earliest days of papal history, Vatican Splendors provides an unprecedented opportunity for art lovers and members of our faith based communities as well.

We are pleased to offer a “student group” rate of $6.00 per person. Chaperones can attend at charge (one for every 10 students).

As an additional teaching tool we have added a “Teacher's Guide” to our website which can be downloaded in order to incorporate historical and artistic elements to your lesson plans prior to attending the exhibit.

The Florida International Museum joins you in your goal teaching success. We believe a visit to the museum will enhance classroom activities and be enjoyable for your students (and you!)
